About this site
I grew up balancing two starkly different worlds—my parents' deeply rooted Asian values and the fast-paced, fiercely individualistic culture of America. As a first-generation Asian American woman, I was constantly caught between two forces. Expectations weighed heavy: be hardworking, quiet, obedient, beautiful, thin, and above all—successful. There was only one rule: never fail.
I was given a timeline, a blueprint for life—get good grades, graduate, get married, have kids—all before 30. It felt like I was chasing a finish line that wasn't mine, following a script someone else had written. After graduating from college, the pressure to get married intensified. And the more I chased this ideal, the more I realized it wasn’t mine to follow. The harder I tried, the deeper I sank into frustration and despair. I reached a point where it felt like my life had no purpose if I didn’t follow the path laid out for me.
But then, something shifted. I started to ask: What if I could create my own path? Slowly, I began to understand that my journey wasn’t about living up to others' expectations—it was about breaking free from them. What I needed wasn’t perfection but acceptance.
Now, I’m in the process of releasing those expectations and embracing what truly matters—enjoying life on my own terms.
I’ve realized I’m not alone. There are so many of us who feel this way, caught in silence, afraid to speak about the internal conflict. The more I’ve opened up, the more I’ve seen how important it is to talk about these struggles, to normalize the feelings we keep hidden.
This website is my reflection of that journey. Each article is a window into the process—my process—of moving from perfection to acceptance, from resentment to release. And in sharing it, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own stories and find their own path.
Shifting the Mindset
Change is never easy, and it's taken me years of reflection and self-discovery to truly grasp the experiences that have shaped me. Before I could embrace change, I had to first understand and accept what had happened. This website is my reflection of that journey. Each article is a window into my process of moving from perfection to acceptance, from resentment to release. And in sharing it, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own stories and find their own path.
